The above map shows some of my completed island mapping projects. Each icon contains the name of the primary island associated with the project and a link to the post. Once all of my projects are posted, the map will be covered with icons. To productively use the map, zoom into a region of interest. Then select an icon.

Each of my maps is constructed of numerous layers of information. All of the layers are vector files. I will make these files available upon request. You are free to use them with certain restrictions - 1) Don't sell them. You can use them on research projects, post them to your website or things of that nature. If you aren't sure about the use of my maps, drop me a line and we can discuss your idea. 2) Give me credit when you use my vectors or images of my maps. Credit them to Peter Minton @ EVS-Islands

If I have the island vector file(s) and based upon your need, I will make them available. Images of my maps are yours to download and use, with the above restrictions applicable. Enjoy!

Adalar Islands TU

Adalar Islands TU - Map
This is a previous map with color changes. I like the softer colors (greens and tans). Included is a legend that Marplot produces. Just thought I would redo an old map with visually appealing colors. A quick note about the Adalar Islands - there are nine of them and the largest, Buyukada (Large Island) is a popular summer destination for European tourists. One time, many years ago, I rented a house on the island and had a wonderful time being young and slightly foolish. Adalar Islands TU EVS Coordinates are available via Comment request.

Hon Son Cha VN

Hon Son Cha - Image (N-48-15_2000)
Hon Son Cha - Map
Hon Son Cha is also known as Son Tra Island. It is located off of the eastern tip of the Son Tra Peninsula (reputed to be the boundary between North and South Vietnam). This goes back to the 13th century when the Nguyen family (North Vietnam) fought to claim the southern portion of Vietnam from the Kingdom of Champa. The capital of Champa was located right in the area. Nothing left of it today except for some monuments and some people that claim Cham roots. The small island is about 1.49 sq. km. in area. It is located about 1-km off shore. It is covered by dense forest. The highest point on the island is 230-meters. This island is part of the Hai Van-Hon Son Tra Marine Protected Area. The map includes the World Vector Shorelines (WVS). These are what I am intent on improving. As you can readily see, the Enhanced Vector Shorelines (EVS - my shorelines) are far more precise and better reflect the actual ground features. Orthorectified Landsat Enhanced Thematic Mapper (ETM+) Compressed Mosaics are what I use to make my maps. They render ground features at a resolution of 14.5-meters per pixel. According to that resolution the best scale I can hope to resolve to is between 1:125000 and 1:62750. I believe that my maps exceed those limitations often by a factor of 2x ( 1:15600). I need to credit my source materials (the Landsat imagery). For example, the above image is taken from Landsat ETM N-48-15_2000. Hon Son Cha VN EVS Coordinates are available via Comment request.
